Trump takes a mulligan with his travel ban

President Trump's first immigration order wasn't that bad. The problem is that it was undermined by fired-up progressives determined to make the Trump administration a total failure, even at the cost of national prosperity and security.

Obviously the glitches in the first order would have been addressed in due time, such as denying re-entry to translators with green cards and so forth.  But the numerous whiny complaints in the liberal legacy media and social networks about people afraid to leave the U.S. for fear they wouldn't be allowed back in were quite ungrounded -- Canadians, Germans, etc. who just wanted to get on the anti-Trump bandwagon and pout self-righteously.

Trump had to fix the admission procedure for "refugees." Until now, anybody who could finagle a one-way ticket to the United States and claim to be a "refugee" was allowed to stay in the country even if their refugee petition was rejected. Several thousand of these rejected "refugees," mainly from Somalia and the Middle East, have been trekking through the blizzards of Minnesota and Upstate New York to enter Canada illegally before Trump deports them from the United States.

If the travel restrictions keep the "refugee" program from being abused, then it is worthwhile for that reason alone.
