To The Victims of 9/11, We Have Forgotten You

We promised we would never forget. We wouldn't forget the first responders, those who died that September morning or from complications after.

We wouldn't forget the passengers inside the 4 planes that were hijacked. The innocent people who went to work that day in New York and Washington D.C. and were murdered by terrorists, we wouldn't forget.

As a nation, we stood in Shanksville Pennsylvania and swore we wouldn't forget the heroes who fought back.

We sent our military heroes off to war, to hold those who perpetrated and planned the attack responsible, and swore we wouldn't forget them and not let their sacrifice be wasted.

Now, as we sit and watch, our country continues to fall under attack and we have a Commander in Chief who refuses to acknowledge the threat. A president who is either unable or unwilling to formulate a plan.

We as individuals may not have forgot, but we as a nation surely have.

We have rushed to gun control votes, but no declaration of war. Rushing to call for calm at home,  but no action or calls for the international community to stand together and actually slay ISIS, just rhetoric and posturing.

As a nation, we have forgot how to defend ourselves. We forgot how to take the fight to this enemy. We forgot how to crush those who pledge to ISIS, and eliminate them before they can come here and harm us at home.

We have to start remembering, before we make more promises to the dead, that we have no intention of keeping.
