This is not going to sit well with some of Donald Trump's core supporters.
On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump pushed back on the belief that he will deport children brought to the U.S. illegally by their illegal immigrant parents.
“We’re going to work something out that’s going to make people happy and proud.
“They got brought here at a very young age, they’ve worked here, they’ve gone to school here. "
"Some were good students. Some have wonderful jobs. And they’re in never-never land because they don’t know what’s going to happen," Trump said of Dreamers during an interview after being named Time magazine's “Person of the Year.”
Over 740,000 so-called Dreamers have been given a deportation reprieve and other benefits through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, enacted by President Obama's executive action in 2012.
Trump has said that he will deport illegal immigrants who commit crimes and has vowed to enforce existing immigration laws.
