San Antonio police officer murdered in front of SAPD headquarters: Suspect on the run

On Sunday, November 20, 2016 a San Antonio Police Department Detctive was murdered in front of the San Antonio Police Department’s Headquarters.


The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, 5-feet, 7 inches to 6-feet tall, wearing a gray shirt and black pants. According to the SAPD, the suspect was driving a black mid-size sedan with chrome wheels.


"Right now we are looking for a possible motive. We are looking for video footage that may help us identify this individual.

"It's always difficult, especially in this day and age, where police are being targeted across the country," SAPD Chief William McManus said.

This is the vehicle seen fleeing headquarters after the shooting.


The SAPD identified the muerdered Detective as Benjamin Marconi.The 50-year-old Marconi was a 20-year veteran of the force and member of SAPD's Special Victims Unit.

"He was a great guy. He cared about the job he did and the people he worked with,"Jesse Salame, a spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department, said.
